SOLO PICNIC: REFRESHING!
DATE: 12TH & 13TH JULY’2009

The year got off to a wonderful start with the solo picnic at Treat Resort, Daman under the chairmanship of Rtn. Subir Kacholia. A record 43 members attended the picnic and had an excellent time together. The picnic was utilised to form Club Within Club (CWC).

FAMILY GATHERING: CLOSE BOND

The first family gathering of the Rotary Year 2008-09 was organised on Sunday, 6th July’08 to felicitate Rotary child Neha, who returned from Belgium the same day after completing one year as an IYE student. In the meeting we felicitated top three rankers in SSC exams from the Palghar Taluka. Total attendance was 108 including Rotarians, Rotary-Anns, Rotary Kids & invited guests.

We celebrated teacher’s day on 10th Sept’08 with our families. The programme was named “Guruvandan”. We had a family night to celebrate Navratri on 18th Oct’08 and played traditional Raas-Garba. Organised family gathering and cultural programme in the ROSE FESTIVAL WEEK where the talent of the Rotarians and their families were exhibited. We celebrated New Year eve with our family in a true Rotary way at BHOJ Bunglow, Shirgaon. We celebrated Holi the true Rotary way by organising a family programmes at the shores of Kelve beach at Wadrai village.

We celebrated all Indian festivals from every community together. During the year 2008-09 we have organised 6 family gatherings till now and plan to organise one such gathering in each month.

SPEAKER IN MEETINGS: NEED FOR THE DAY

Considering the need for providing our members an opportunity to have first hand information of other avenues we invited eminent speakers from various vocations during weekly meetings as well as family gatherings in order to give our members a chance to understand & explore different avenues. The list of our prominent speakers includes:

1.	Rtn. Sriram Athri on Handling Hurt on 30th July’08
2.	Rtn. Deep Kapadia on Vedic Maths 24th Sept’08
3.	Mr. Albert D’souza on Scope of Engineering & Pharmacy 8th Oct
4.	Dr. Sriprakash Patel, Nuclear Physicist, on Current trends in Science on 5th Nov’08.

FELLOWSHIP: STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART

The fellowship committee under the chairmanship of Rtn. Hanif Dhanani is doing an excellent job by arranging dinner during the regular meetings & family gatherings, which is sponsored by our club members.

Being a much closed region we have advantage of Rotary fellowship almost daily and impromptu fire side meetings along with CWC meetings.

ADOPTION OF CLUB LEADERSHIP PLAN

We called for Extra Ordinary General Body Meeting on 2nd July and after approval from the board the Club Leadership Plan was adopted in the meeting & duly signed copies of Constitution & By-laws were sent to all the members.

DISTRICT EVENTS: OUR PARTICIPATION

We started the year by attending various installation programmes viz. Installation function of Rotary Club Of Mumbai-Borivali(E), R.C of Bombay-Kandivali, RC of Borivali, RC of Mulund, RC of Bombay Airpo

1.	We attended district meetings like
	Intercity forum on Membership & P.R. hosted by RC of Kandivali (W) on 30th Aug’08.
	Intercity Forum on Community Service hosted by RC of Bombay (W) on 31st Aug’08.
	Intercity forum on Vacational & International services hosted by RC of Mumbai Sion on 28th Sept’08
2.	We participated in A to Z of Rotary held on 20th July at Juhu as a co-host.
3.	We had 20 registrations for the District Conference on 31st Jan & 1st Feb’09.
4.	We also attended the OCV of RC of Boisar-Tarapur & RC of Borivali.
5.	We co-hosted Rotary Aqua-2008, an International Water Conference on 19th Oct’08.
